First Hello Hi Painting (Nadia)

It's all here. this is the first hello painting and i didn't even know i was making it. nadia as red.

Red: hey tom Black: hello nadia Red: hi tom Black: what makes you dance in the night? Red: no... ur supposed to keep saying hi Red: forever :-) Black: oh Black: hi hi Red: hi tom Black: hi nadia Red: hi tom Black: hello Red: hey.. Black: greetings! Red: hi there.. Red: :-) Black: ! Black: hello to you Red: hello Black: nadia nadia nadia hello how are you? Red: ooh... the next level..... of hi... Red: the.... how are you.... Black: evolved high Red: tom do u see how cool this is -- how this can be a therapeutic bonding exercise.. i think i have stumbled onto something big Red: how long can two people just greet eachother. just say hello Black: hello indeed i do Red: until they need to divert their attention to other things Red: hi Black: hello Red: hi Black: its very namaste-ic Black: hi Red: hi Black: hello there! Red: ---we have to try this in real life....---- Red: hi tom Black: isn't this real also? Black: hi hi Red: yes but, its less challenging Red: than face to face Red: hi Black: hello Red: hey Black: oh hi nadia Red: hey tom Red: hello.. Black: a frozen but warm moment of perpetual helloness Red: i think.. if we just said hello.... we wouldnt hurt eachother and we could cure all the worlds ills Red: yyes Black: hello to that as well as to you Red: hi.... people shouldnt venture beyond hello Black: things get conplicated Red: we get lost Red: sometimes even Black: hi! Red: hi Red: :-) Black: hello is all you need Red: all you need is hello Black: you say hello....... Red: i say hi Black: and i say hello Red: and i say hey Black: hey hi Red: howdy ho Black: inflection to reflect upon! Red: reflection projection Red: connection Red: protection Black: commection Red: no objection Black: hi object Black: larger hello object Red: hi there Black: objectified hi's Red: hello here Black: here is where we say hi Red: hey you Red: hey me Red: hey me :-) Black: oh hello hello hello Red: hello me hello you hello me Black: hiya all Red: holla Black: pi Black: pretty hi Red: we should pay bills with hi Black: i agree Red: and returned hellos Black: i'm sure they'd be comfortable to sit in as well Red: must return them Red: if I give you hi, you must give me hello.... Black: hello hi hello hello hey hi howdy hi Red: and then we are settled Black: settled is the first state Red: ...then? Black: the first hi necessarily upsets the balance in an effort to restore what is already there Red: whats there Black: helloness Black: hitopia Black: or simply hello Red: helloey Red: whats the 2nd stage Black: that first necessary hi perhaps? Black: but even so we're gently guided back to the first Black: hello brings us back Black: you don't want to get to far from here Red: no no, not far Black: life is just one now after another Red: stay near it Black: hello Red: hi Black: now now now now hello there Red: hi there now Black: hear now hello now Red: hello here Black: may the state of helloitute be expressed by a simple act of hi Red: well hello then Black: the hi hi hello of now we have here Black: hi there!! hi to you Red: hi tom Black: hello nadia Red: hey :-) Black: conversations need no questions Black: lights don't stop to ask questions right? Red: are you sure? :-) Black: hi is all we need Red: what about how are you ? :-) Black: that's more of a hi than a question Red: sometimes no Red: sometimes we do want to know Red: how you are Black: but i suppose you can mean it as a question Red: how are you? Black: how are you Red: hi :-) Black: the you that i'm hi-ing to too Black: hi Black: how are you ? Black: are you? how? Red: i am Red: i am. Black: there you are Red: here am i Black: stand still so i can hello you Red: i am here Black: hello Red: hi Red: say hello tom Black: hello Red: say hello Black: hello Red: say hello :-) Black: hello Black: heaveno Red: hi :-) Black: h to dance around an i Black: the h makes i a more effective greeter Red: .... i have a friend... that only says Black: a greater greeter than i alone Red: h Red: no joke... Red: he just says Red: h Red: i should ask him why... Black: i? Red: hi Black: huuuuuu Black: like that? Black: or haaaaaaaaaaa Black: hoooooooooooo Black: many flavors of h Black: hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii Black: that's a nice one Red: i have another friend who has a screen name Red: that says Red: hiiiiii Black: thats a very powerful little word there Black: hi Red: just hiiiiiii Red: yes Red: hi Red: more heads of state should say hi Black: hi Red: to one another Black: oh hi Red: oh Red: oh hi Red: hi oh Red: why not the hi Red: the full hi Black: we could use a whole world of that of that Black: so just h Red: h Black: but hi as currency Red: mm Red: yes Red: hi Black: commerce of kindness no? Red: h Black: a full hi Red: i Black: h maybe saves on the shipping Red: yes, he has since admitted it is laziness Red: and style Black: like thelonious monk playing the computer keyboard Black: h Black: hhh h hhh h Red: iiiiiiiiiii Red: ill complete your hi Red: you give me an h Red: ill give you the world Black: h Red: i Black: oh nice Black: how are you? Red: i am :-) Black: what if no one's around? Black: where does the hi go? Red: ooh... Red: it waits. Red: it waits till i am Red: here Red: to greet it Black: with an h Red: and take it with my hello Red: i Black: hhelloi Red: hi Black: hi with a rich center Red: i can feel so drained but in a goodly way after a long session of hello Black: do you hello often? Red: hello O:-) Red: yes.... yes.. hello Black: sometimes i miss doing the red and black drawings Red: oh im red Black: they were like endless hello loops Red: ive always been Red: you just see it now Black: hi!! Red: hi :-) Black: trees say hello! Red: hi them Black: leaves say hi to the trees that say hello Red: and i to them Red: say hi Red: say i Black: hello Red: yes.. hello then Black: every blade of grass to the trees, hello Red: hi them Red: tom Black: hi Red: a friend of mine... i found out.... was in the same theatre as me tonight.... watching the same movie Red: and we didnt find this out until we said Red: hi Red: hours later Black: to the movie? Red: to eachother Red: lol Red: could we have watched it together Red: without knowing Red: we were watching it Black: subway hellos! Red: together ? Red: without Red: the hi Red: ... Black: did anybody say hi in the movie? Black: we could have mouths in the backs of our heads to say hi as well as the fronts Red: hello, im sorry i had to go to the bathroom hi Red: the movie was a lot about voices and language... hi Black: hi Red: hey Red: this was always red, remember that Black: humans have to go to the bathrooms Black: hello Red: 8-) Red: i am Red: human Black: nice! Black: hi Red: hey.. Black: a fine red indeed - like a red red wine Black: hi Red: hey...... how do .... how does one leave.... if one must say hi.... Black: that lizz winstead painting was much too wordy i remember Black: could have just been hi Red: :-) Black: but one thing i do remember is how it ended Red: how :-) Black: brb Red: :-D Black: :-) Red: :-D Black: heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeellllllloooooooooooooo nadiiiiiiiiaaaaaaaaaaaaa Red: hi tom :-) Red: we may have to go sleepy hi soon..... Recovery or Saying Houston Like Houston (Cristina)

Tonight's painting for the blog is about recovery. it's called "Recovery"

Black: i'll introduce the painting to people Black: hi everybody this is my friend chap from texas Black: the painting is called recovery Black: no "Recovery" Black: that's because.................... Black: chap? Red: i'm here Red: sorry i had to go get a drink Black: haha Red: woo! Black: nice nice Red: i'm excited Black: recovery - that's what we're all about here Red: and somewhat nervous Red: haha Black: no don't be Black: people recover all the time Red: thats true Black: right now in fact at this very moment there are people recovering Black: like you for instance Black: how's that going? Red: i only wish it would go by faster Red: slowly but surely i'm getting better but,, eh Red: i suppose i kind of like this down time though Red: i get the chance to relax and re-evaluate alot of things Black: yes it's all about slowing down right? Red: people forget to slow down Black: are you smelling any roses? Red: haha if i could go outside, i would Red: for now i'm enjoying the catcher in the rye and music Red: television was fine for the first few days, but after a while it was just repetative Black: yes same stuff over and over right? Black: it's almost like with television you get the same stuff over and over Black: over and over again you get the same stuff watching television Black: that's why painting is good -it's not always the same old stuff like television Red: exactly Black: which shows you the same stuff over and over Black: but breaking out the the loop Black: you're here! Red: haha Black: we have a very large audience tonight on the blog for paintings Black: let's see................. 7 people! Red: really? Red: woo! Black: nope nope Black: somebody just left Red: well, atleast they checked it out? Black: but maybe they'll be back Black: haha Red: i hope Red: haha they all come back Black: so what's the essential texan's guide to recovery? Black: what's top of the list as they say? Red: iced tea and a cool breeze Red: it sounds cliche Black: because you know we might be talking to other recoverers out there Black: no not at all Black: i like cliches Black: i like to think they got there for a reason Red: growing up in the south, i've learned that tradition really sticks with you Black: that's where my girlfriend is now Black: deep in the traditional south Red: i wouldnt live anywhere else Black: no i like deep in the rich tradition of the south better Red: being a texan... well.. i cant explain it. Red: i even have a small tattoo of the outline of tx Red: alot of people here do Black: nice! Red: people from anywhere else wonder why we do it Black: where's a good spot to have that? Red: but you have to be texan to understand Red: i have ti on my left shoulder Black: i'll have to ask my friend giles Black: he's from houston Red: oh!! Red: me too! Black: here in new york we say houston as houston Red: oh goodness Red: i feel so distracted Red: i'm not sure why i am dreading my birthday Black: l like that word Red: another year older Black: dis tracted Black: like another track Black: how old now? Red: 21 Red: and i cant even drink Red: how sad is that? Black: *sadness* Black: no 21 is a great age Black: and recovery remember? Black: Recovery Red: yes, i know Red: i'll recover Red: recover from the operation Red: recover from the distance between my boy and i Black: you're resolving too! Black: resolving to recover Black: a new year starts now Red: yes...yes it does... Red: i feel .....right now i just........feel.... Black: so throw away last week's time Red: i cant explain it Black: and ..... what.... something like set sail would be nice Red: i'm almost stoic right now Red: haha Black: stoic chap Red: if only i could set sail Black: for tomorrow's new horizon Red: a new sunrise Red: speaking of sunrises, which do you prefer Black: in glorious color Red: sunrise or sunset? Black: hmm Red: sunrise is my preference Black: i can only pick one? Black: yes! Red: its so fresh and new everyday Black: from lake tahoe Red: a new beginning Black: right over the mountains Red: oh i love lake tahoe Black: streaming color Black: warming mist Red: the sun somehow always makes me smile in the mornings Red: even when its in my eyes Black: yes especially then Black: the sun insistantly gets through the darkness Red: i feel like the sun is something reliable Red: thats what i love so much about it Red: theres a security about the sun Red: you always know the sun will rise again

Face Flower Eyes

Kelly's back as red. This wound up becoming a painting about moms, flowers and babies. some other things too but mostly that.

Black: hello rice kelly Red: hiya! Black: what do you do to get over a bad day when they happen? Red: I usually call my mother and talk to her about it Red: and then I consume copious amounts of beer Black: hahah nice. i was just reading about that Black: well the mom part not the beer part Red: haha Red: yeah, it's always nice to talk to the ma Red: I call her almost every other day Black: i'm reading 'woman's day' we're gonig in there tomorrow Red: hehe! Black: the page open in front of me right now is mom time Black: so funny Red: haha, aww Red: moms are wonderful Red: even though they are irrational and silly at times Black: they are indeed Red: I think that's part of being a ma Black: yes because you have that stuff to worry about Black: moms are world makers Red: lots of stuff! Red: yes, they are Red: I always make sure my mom knows she is appreciated, even if I don't always show it Red: I feel bad for being a bratty little kid in the past Black: that's great to hear Black: here's one from the book "My mother and I have 'Momma-Daughter Day.' Usually we stop for a latte and breadfast, then spend the day shopping at consignment and antiques stores." from CA Black: breakfast that is Red: awwww Red: that is cute Black: this is good i'm feeling better already kelly Red: hehe Red: I'm glad Black: glad to talk to you Red: oh, tom, I have a fabulous mom-related story to tell you Black: nice! Black: wan't to do a quick painting about it? Red: I'd love to Black: nice! Black: alright a mom painting this is Black: just two people talking about moms Red: I will never get used to this 'red' thing Black: ah here we are Red: I changed my msn name to 'mofo' because it's rather rude and I like rudeness, in general Black: rudeness is fun Red: my mom messaged me and said, "who is mofo?" Red: I said, "why it's a monster on the television, of course" Black: ah Red: she belived me Red: *believed, rather Black: you got out of that one! Red: and said, "it sounds more like a bad hair-do!" Black: ah Red: oh ma Black: hahah Black: so i'm almost finished this issue of woman's day Red: how was it? Black: it's fun - i like new perspectives Black: i found it very relaxing - calmed me down a bit - shifted the focus Black: well the magazine did and our earlier conversation did also Black: so what's important to you at this moment kelly? Red: right now, it's important for me to feel calm and relaxed and content with things Red: what is importan to you right at this moment? Black: ah that's good me too Black: yes i'm sharing that Black: just focusing on the essentials Black: it's funny - we can use words to make a 'clear your head' painting Red: clearing my head has always been really important to me Red: I like going on long walks in the woods. very helpful Black: here's something from the book - it's head-clearing Black: page, 5 years old: "Mom, why do you call Grandma 'Mom'?" Black: "because she's my mother." Black: page: "Why doesn't she call you 'Mom' like we do?" Red: aww Black: because she's alwayss called me 'Paula' since i was a girl" Black: page: "so when did you change your name to Mom?" Red: awww Red: I love kids Black: will you have some one day? Red: I hope so. Red: kids are so honest Black: yes Black: that really comes across in that dialogue above Black: they're very zen Red: yes, it does Black: it's all about the moment Black: the instant - the whole world is now Red: I love how babies stare at people Black: a baby stared at me today Red: aww Black: i was on the train Black: one of the smiling kind Red: I love when babies stare at me! if you smile at them, sometimes they smile back Red: awww. smiling babies are my favourite Red: I went to see my friend's new baby in the hospital recently Black: what goes into a smiling baby? Red: wow.... I don't know where to even begin. it's almost what doesn't go in Red: it's just humanity in its purest form, as cheesy as that sounds Black: yes i like how you put that Black: so could we be more like babies then? is that the idea? Red: babies are garden of eden Red: I'd like to Black: but locked into words - it's hard Red: the only catch is that it's impossible to be a baby and appreciated it, or even remember it Red: yes Black: oh but i think there are time when it all come back though Black: there are times that should be Red: this is almost making me teary! Black: when someone is stroking your hair while your half asleep on a weekend afternoon - that's one Black: you're Black: wow spelling tonight Red: haha, I'm the same way tonight. me good in english! Black: babies can't spell so maybe this is a good thing Red: =) Black: baybe Red: I think the half awake/half asleep parts of my day are the most interesting Red: and if I could feel any way forever, it woul be half awake and half asleep Red: *would, even Red: jeeze! Black: ah! we just did my 9th salon and my waking dream friend nadia was there! Red: =) Red: who is this nadia? Black: yes that's a good state to be in - a good state to make things Black: she's a lovely woman - she's been in wow about a million paintings of mine so far Red: so many! Black: yes a million is a lot Black: she's the one who did that michael moore fahrenheit 911 cover painting with me last august Red: ooh, I remember that one Red: it was good Black: yes she really made that happen Red: that is wonderful Black: so she was at the salon this time and while i did the portrait performance i gave her a shout out Black: hah it was nice Red: haha Red: "shout outs to nadia!" Red: =) Black: ah and you too! Red: heheh Black: is your hair up or down today kelly? Red: it's a little bit of both Black: ah Red: I enjoy it Black: that's important stuff for a portrait Red: =) Black: so maybe it's up and maybe it's down Black: it's all about how you see it Red: I like that kind of thing Red: it's all about perspective Black: yes indeed Black: should this be like one of those stiff renaissance portraits? Red: hmm, that is an interesting thought Black: or could we just keep letting it flow Red: hmm, I think I am in favour of flowing Black: unfurling Black: i like that word too Red: that puts a lovely image in my mind Black: oh tell me Red: of a young fern Red: in the backyard in the home I lived in as a child Black: plants dance Red: it was over in the far corner of the garden Red: I liked the way they curled up at first Red: and then 'unfurled', if you will =) Black: i think it's important to have love for plants Red: I always liked botany in high school Red: but maybe that was just because we didn't have to dissect any frogs :S Black: the study of plants Red: I skipped class during the dissections Black: but can that compare to putting one's face in front of an opening purple flower? Red: oh, it's not even close Black: see that's the baby part Black: the other is more maybe baybe Red: =) Black: face flower eyes Red: so pretty Black: so i guess now i'm a baby flower mom painter Black: i like subjects! Black: they're fun to play with Red: hehe, yes they are Red: well I am afraid I have to cut this painting short Red: I just realized that I must wake up early tomorrow! Red: it's been lovely chatting with you, as usual Black: well we can just bring it to a close Black: yes yes same Red: =) night! Black: goodnight to all the viewers and.. Black: find a flower Black: how's that? Red: =) Red: sounds lovely

Undressed Words (Lisa)

it's rainy here in ny but rain won't stop her from getting out to the world. this is what happened right before

Black: this is a portrait of a girl getting dressed to go out Black: here she is - in red Red: red. Black: wow red Black: are you going to wear red tonight? Red: no i rarely wear red Red: i dont generally feel comfortable in bright colors Red: i stick mainly to grays and blacks and dark blues. occasionally a little cramberry Red: soemtime sin the form of a stain Black: cramberry! Black: nice Red: oh. typos do make for veyr interesting mstakes sometimes Black: a little sin never hurt Red: im making many of them this time around Black: say hi to everyone out there in painting land Red: agreed. sin makes life far more fun Black: it does Red: hi painting people Black: because its about pushing a boundary Black: and once oyou do you find that the world gets a bit bigger Red: and also because all the fun things are ssinful Black: so everybody this is about fashion and the girl Black: what she's going to wear tonight Red: what IS she going to wear tongiht Red: this is a hard night to dress for Black: she's going to meet new people and they'll just think oh that's what she's wearing Black: but here we are behind the scenes where it all takes place Black: so what does this night require Red: pants. becaus ei dont feel like shaving my legs and because its cold and rinaful out Black: a fine choice! Black: well reasoned too Red: the tricky thing is to get the right combination of things to fit the nin crowd and also the 80s dance night Black: 80s meet the techno metal 90s Red: yes Red: if i were a boy i would just go in drag because drag works for all occasions Black: maybe it comes down to color Black: deep purple? Black: an 80s meets 90s deep purple Black: ah scary boots would be great Red: those i can do Red: i coudl do combat boots or i could do platforms Red: probably platforms Red: i <3 my platforms Red: i danced so hard in them that they BROKE and i had to find a cobbler to fix them becaus ei refused to part. Black: so he was able to cobble them back together? Red: yes they were cobbled to prefection Black: my mom makes a good peach cobbler Red: moms are good like that Black: moms rock Black: alright so here it is - it's all about attitude right? Red: yeah mymom is pretty much my favorite lady Black: i mean what you're going to wear Black: it's not about color or fabric Black: i think i got it -it's simply what you want to say about yourself Red: mm. more or less. Black: wow i should go into fashion now Red: and how you want to be reacted to Black: bright lisa or dark lisa Black: mysterious lisa or friendly lisa Black: brooding lisa or soothing lisa Black: little miss riding lisa or ruff ryding lisa Black: so many options Red: some things are just not for dancing in. i dont know. im not feeling motived. perhaps what i need is an apropriate playlist to inspire me Black: 7 years ago the only way we'd be able to do this would be telepathy or something Black: and i don't even believe in that Red: o? Red: i believe in it Black: well this is kind of like it no? Black: from one mind to another Red: mm Black: faster than we can thing Red: but it doesnt go straight form mind to mind Black: thnk Red: theres things in between Black: that's where typos come in Black: typos let you know in some cases that you're thinking with your fingers as well as your mind Red: thats true Red: sometime si type complete othe words from what im thinking im typng Black: wonderful Black: so this rocker girl -is she all dressed yet? Red: no shes actually just strating to undress
